Bernhard Fuchs und Simone Nieweg arbeiten beide mit traditionellen Mitteln der Farbfotografie, in Werkgruppen, die sich über längere Zeiträume erstrecken.
Bernhard Fuchs zeigt eine kleine Gruppe von Fotografien von Kindern und Jugendlichen aus vorwiegend städtischer Umgebung und stellt damit eine Ergänzung zur Ausstellung im letzten Jahr im Fotohof vor. Den Bildern liegt eine große Vertrautheit mit den Portraitierten zugrunde. „Einerseits ist den gezeigten Personen das Posieren vor der Kamera bewusst, andererseits öffnen sie sich aber zugleich wie zu einem selbstverständlichen Gegenüber“ (Heinz Liesbrock).
Simone Nieweg und Berhard Fuchs leiten 2001 den Fotokurs an der Internationalen Sommerakademie für Bildende Kunst.

With their portraits and landscapes, Bernhard Fuchs and Simone Nieweg take their place in a long tradition adopted from painting by photography. Although the two artists differ in their choice of subjects, they nevertheless use related artistic strategies (such as their unusually objective approach and attention to detail) which result in comparable pictures. Both photograph almost exclusively in surroundings familiar to them - Simone Nieweg in the North Rhineland, Bernhard Fuchs in the Mühlviertel region of Upper Austria. Their photographs are sensitive, unspectacular shots, with an intensity achieved through concentration on the subject and through the compositional elements of light, colours and forms. Simone Nieweg and Bernhard Fuchs live in Düsseldorf.
