Margherita Spiluttini
"For more than a decade Margherita Spiluttini (formerly: Krischanitz)
has represented the archetype of the critical architecture
photographer. She possesses the alert certainty to photograph built
structures in a critical or differentiating manner. In most cases,
formal elements and specific spatial forms are the point of departure
for her concious formal process of reduction. She reduces emotional
values, which run the risk of being transformed into atmospheric
mysteries or even into sentimentality. She avoids subjective positions
and angles, which could produce a false attractivity or lead astray.
(...) An amused laconic quality pervades the comprehensive
architectural photography of Margherita Spiluttini. To be laconic means
to be accurate." (Otto Hochreiter).
The exhibition at the Fotohof Gallery shows recent works, large-format landscapes, a series of photographs of constructions in the Alps, as well as selected architectural photographs. A continuing interest of Margherita Spiluttini is motion: mobility, change, transition appear as icons not only in photographs of traffic constructions but also in photographs of quarries, whose theme is the circulation of materials as a result of industrial production processes. Motion is also a continuing theme in photographs which focus on various aspects of the relationship between architecture and sports.
