For over 15 years Carsten Tabel has been writing prose texts, essays and poetry on the images of other artists. The author and filmmaker studied at the HGB Leipzig and at the Deutsches Literaturinstitut (German Literature Institute), which is located directly across the street. He also teaches text and language at various art academies in Germany. For the program Die Leute, Tabel has selected three texts commissioned by photographers in recent years that revolve around the themes of work, structural change, and consumption.

With Caroline Hake, Stephanie Kiwitt and Felix Bielmeier, Tabel presents three generations of photographers who studied in Leipzig and whose common ground, according to Tabel, lies in their conscious approach to the critical potential of photography.

Carsten Tabel, *1978 in Friedberg/Hessen, Germany; lives and works as an author, artist and filmmaker in Leipzig.
