Between 2004 and 2014 the Viennese photographer Heidi Harsieber took photographs of artists and their partners during at times elaborate and long drawn-out portrait sessions. The photo book Einblicke [Insights] (published in the FOTOHOF edition) collated some of this work in book form. The FOTOHOF archiv has now been given the negatives and many of the originals from this sizeable group of works and, as part of this exhibition, offers an insight into this body of work. The exhibition takes a look ‘behind’ the individual photographs used to produce the book and showcases examples of the original series of photographs in the form of groups of photos. These photo groups are largely originals by Heidi Harsieber, who used series such as these to address her topic.
Another group of works by Heidi Harsieber entitled Trash dates from the early 1970s and features abstract colour photographs that were first shown at the Museum des 20. Jahrhunderts in Vienna in 1975 as part of a slide show; they have rarely been on display since.
